Passages of Hope

  and Healing

Once Was a Flower

Marlana Fury

That which once was a flower
Is now shriveled
Dead...

No longer crowned in glory
It holds instead
A brown and wrinkled seed pod

Is there within
The ONE seed
Which will not fall upon stone?
Nor be devoured
by the winged birds of madness?
Nor choked
by the weeds of self-delusion?

This poem was the turning point
in my healing process.
It was the last line which woke me up.
I realized that only I could start
the healing process,
by leaving my fantasy world behind
and facing reality.
